This area used to be booming with many sailing ships. Unfortunitely some wrecked on our shores and outer islands. Many hundreds of ships have gone down in the area. |

A multi-purpose engine. The workhorse of a by-gone era. The Pump Fog Horn was used by fishermen on the grand banks. Small boats would each have one. A Man was employed to pump the horn so the mother ship could keep track of all the smaller ships. |

Weir fishing is a long-standing tradition in the area, also often a profitable undertaking. |
